FIRST AID ESSENTIALS FOR CHILDREN
Gain confidence to handle medical emergencies with children.
BOOKING
All courses are run from our training centre at Hatzolah House, 29 Durham St, Raedene.
A MIN of 4 and MAX of 9 students per class is advised.
The duration of the course is 6 hours, which can be split over 2 sessions.
Please note: BOTH sessions need to be attended in order to complete the course.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This course targets all laypersons such as parents, caregivers, guardians, domestic workers, family members and aupairs wanting to learn First Aid for children.
COURSE CONTENT
Session 1 of 2 (3 hours)
- Calling for Help
- CPR – for child and infant
- Use of an AED
- Choking – child, and infant
Session 2 of 2 (3 hours)
- Accident Prevention
- Allergic Reactions
- Asthma
- Basic Spinal Immobilisation
- Bee Stings
- Bites
- Bleeding
- Broken Bones (fractures)
- Burns
- Head Injuries
- Personal Safety
- Poisoning
- Recovery Position
- Seizures
- Sprains
LEARNING RESOURCES
A student workbook is provided to each participant for review, during and after the course.
TESTING AND CERTIFICATION
- This course is an attendance-only course and is not an accredited SETA First Aid course.
- There is no testing phase.
- Discovery members will earn 1000 Discovery Vitality Miles.
- This course is valid for 2 years.
- Receive a Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa attendance certificate.
In accordance with the Resuscitation Council of Southern Africa.
