many years, I still

involved and felt
that by becoming a
dispatcher, I could
do this. In addition
I felt a need to give
back toour community in ameaningful way.
Avi:
My wife inspired me. She had been a dispatcher for a
year before I joined the organisation. Seeing the pure
chessed she, the other dispatchers and responders do on a
daily basis inspiredme to join.
Whatmakes your job at Hatzolahunique/special?
Avril:
Knowing that I can make a difference in somebody
else's life particularly at a difficult time.
Avi:
Working with special people who all have a common
interest – saving lives in themost dignifiedwaypossible
Whatmakes Hatzolah different to other emergency services?
The professionalism of the organisation and the people
within the organisation make it a unique place. The focus
on human dignity and ethical considerations makes it more
than just an organisation that saves lives. The care and
concern for the next person is veryunique at Hatzolah.
Describe themost rewarding situation you've ever responded
to in yourHatzolah career?
Avril:
All situations are rewardingwhen you knowyou have
done the right thing by sending out a crew.
Avi:
Mine is quite a simple event. We transported an old
lady from her house to Morningside Clinic. The care the
other responders took to make sure she was comfortable
anddignified really inspiredme
Ǥ
Avril:
It is a rare privilege to have my husband next to me to
helpme, especiallyduring stressful calls.
Avi:
It's a rare privilege and pleasure to be associated with
Hatzolah, I hope and pray that the organisation grows from
strength to strength and continues to do the Kiddush H-
shemon a daily basis.

- DISPATCHER
What inspired you to joinHatzolah?
Robyn:
My passion and privilege is
doing community work and with
my medical background, I have a
love for the medical field. This,
coupled with a desire to extend
myself and grow beyond my
comfort zone, made Hatzolah the
obvious choice. In fact it felt like a
calling for me, so when the
opportunity arose to join the
organisation, it was not to be
missed.
Whatmakes your job at Hatzolahunique/special?
Robyn:
It is truly an honour and an immense blessing to be a
part of the Hatzolah team. It is at once daunting, exciting and
always humbling working for such an incredible
organisation that provides a vital service to the community.
Commitment and no small measure of courage are required
to step up to the extremely high standards practiced within
Hatzolah.
Whatmakes Hatzolah different to other emergency services?
Robyn:
Hatzolah is well known for it's quick response times
and excellent care and treatment of patients. However, more
than this, what makes Hatzolah unique is that with everyone
in the organisation being Jewish, it is indeed a supportive,
special family unit from whom to learn and be enriched.
From the fundraising team to office staff to board members,
drivers, responders and dispatchers, this is an inspiring
group of people, all with the common goal of saving lives,
Jewish andnon-Jewish alike.
What also makes Hatzolah stand out is the unstinting
appreciation shown to staffmembers and spouses.
Describe the most rewarding situation you've ever responded
to in yourHatzolah career?
Robyn:
It is with enormous gratitude that I do this
meaningful and rewarding work for Hatzolah. Being on the
other end of the line and available to assist people in need is
amplemotivation to continue.
Robyn:
I amconstantly in awe of this teamof Menschen, who
operate at the highest levels of dedication and
professionalism. May Hashem bless all at Hatzolah for
continued growth, success and the ability to perform such
importantwork.
